Dear 9G
Attached are some photos of something for me to describe to get you in a describing mood.
In 2009 there was a dust storm in South East Queensland. On level 29 at my place of work on George Street we have glass windows all around. On a typical sunny Queensland day we can see as far as the bay. As you can see in these photographs, while the dust storm rolled in and across the city we could not see further than our neighbouring buildings. You can just make out the time on the Suncorp building’s digital clock. The dust
turned the entire horizon orange and brown. It was a fascinating sight. I was, however, very glad to be inside and behind the glass. Once on the street that afternoon the taste and smell of the dust was very strong and unavoidable. It coated every surface it came in contact with, including those that make their way into my respiratory system.

Diana is a fifteen year old girl who lives by a lake. She is lonely and has a cat called Matilda. Diana is not nice and is mean to Hector. Diana is the daughter of Beth and Evan, and is a friend to Hector. One day she finds Hector stuck in a cave so she rescues him and takes him home.
(Comment from Josh – just replacing it into this new post)
Good job Josh. Great to see someone willing to take the dive into the virtual world. Your generation will live and work in it so I am thrilled to see you making the effort to start your journey.
Could you expand on the manner in which Diana finds Hector. You could mention Stewart’s role in the rescue.
See you in class
Mrs Fielke
The new character I’ve made is a girl (no name yet), who stealthy follows Hector in hope of compromising another settlement. She wants to find other settlements because hers is low in resources and she decided to take action. Throughout the story she messes with Hector and Diana’s friendship and seeds thoughts of betrayal between the two.
Hector is a pale sensitive boy. He does not know what his parents look like and who they are. His bestfriend may be his dog Stewart, who is almost blind. Hector and Diana meet when Diana broke her wingset. One day she brings him back home, because she feels sorry for him living in a cave.
Hi Jessica
A good effort. You have picked up on the main points. There are a few issues with spelling and grammar. e.g. ‘brang’ should be brought and best friend is two words.
This is one of the benefits of the blog. It makes it really easy for me to see where simple mistakes are being made and correct them with no fuss for either of us.
Perhaps see if you can turn on the spell checking option on WordPress. I have it on my end. It is a button with ABC and a tick on it, however, this may be an admin function.
Great to see you on the blog
Warm regards
HI Stacey
I made a few tweaks to your grammar
Good concepts
Hector has been living in the underground for all his life; he’s a stranger to the world outside it. Amongst the many people around him, Stewart his basset friend is his only friend. The sunlight bothers his eyes since all he could see in the underground was dark colours. Forced out of his underground home, Hector and his dog Stewart were put in a hide behind Diana’s house. Hector, despite being told many stories about the lake none of which prevented him from swimming in it.
A very good description of Hector; Great work Mi!
Can anyone comment on why this is a good description?
e.g.What has Mi mentioned that is interesting and descriptive?
sorry my last post was the wrong work LOL.
Diana is an arduous girl who grew up with no friends to talk to. The outcome of her childhood is shown when she talks to Hector and is very clear with her statements against his looks. She lives in a house next to Redfern lake with only her parents. Her father is in constant agony due to a horrible accident. She meets Hector when she is out flying on her wingset, but unfortunately crashes into a tree. She is afraid of an apparent “illness” and yells at Hector to keep him away.
I really like this description because of all the wonderful descriptive language you have used.
Well done James
Hector is a teenage boy, who lives underground with his blind dog, Stewart, his only best friend. When Stewart leads him to ‘The Outside World’, Hector finds himself staring at the brilliant light that is so blinding. He meets Diana and soon follows her to a hide behind her house.
Hi Stacey
This is a good description of Hector as he is written early in the novel.
great to see you participating online.
